We sell to both businesses and home office consumers. This typically means that VAT implications are different to a business, than an individual.
If you are an individual
If you are an individual, there's unfortunately no way of getting around paying VAT on office furniture - this isn't unique to us, it is a requirement by the UK government (and is law) that as a business, we must charge VAT. This is no different to if you were to make your weekly grocery shop - you also have to pay 20% VAT on this too (with certain product exemptions). However, unlike your local supermarket, they only show the +VAT price because sales are specific to individual consumers and not businesses.
If you are a business
We welcome business custom and that's why we make it easier for those businesses that are registered for VAT to find out what the pre-VAT price is. You'll know if your business is VAT registered because you will either complete a quarterly or yearly VAT return and have over £81,000 in yearly sales (updated 1st April 2014 from £79,000).
If you are below the mandatory £81k VAT threshhold, you can register for VAT, even if your turnover is only £10k per year and then reap the rewards of buying products from Kit Out My Office and reclaiming tax paid.
All businesses and individuals have to pay VAT
Even if a business is VAT registered, VAT still has to be paid at time of making any purchase online from our store and is then reclaimed when you submit your VAT return.
