The office environment is changing at a faster rate than ever before.
Gone are the cookie cutter, drab cubicle farms of the 80s and 90s – they’ve been replaced by individual, custom-designed spaces that reflect modern working practices and the brand values of the organisation.
2016 has seen the creation of some stunning offices – get inspired to make some changes of your own by checking out some of our favourites from across the globe launched in the past 12 months.
Vice – Toronto (https://officesnapshots.com/2016/08/01/vice-offices-toronto/)
Cool, contemporary and irreverent – the new VICE offices in Toronto captures the essence of the organisation perfectly.
The youth media group has made its name covering controversial, counterculture, underground topics, and the dark industrial feel of the office provides a real sense of the creative direction of the brand.
Step inside, and you’ll find a relaxed, open space that’s perfect for flexible working, with fully stocked saloon bar and dedicated meeting/interview spaces, all finished in a combination of dark wood, exposed brick, steel and leather.
Singa Infrastructure & Mining – Mumbai (http://www.officedesigngallery.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/02/1_1.jpg and https://officesnapshots.com/2016/03/04/singa-infrastructure/)
Indian mining and excavation company Singa’s new offices look simply stunning. The designers have struck a great balance – creating a clean, contemporary space that still manages to reflects the nature of the business.
The attention to detail is wonderful. The fluid geometry and shaping of the furniture combined with the use of marble and stone is a clear nod to the core nature of the organisation.
They’ve also made fantastic use of the available space, with a well-planned layout, and neat rows of bench desks in a space that manages to feel nicely separated yet still part of a cohesive office.
Miniclip – London (https://officesnapshots.com/2016/07/22/miniclip-offices-london/)
Playful, modern and jam packed full of the latest tech, the new Miniclip office in London truly embodies the brand.
For a company that’s made its money providing quick online games, it’s perfect – with loads of game stations, office toys and fun touches. Design wise, it’s modern and quirky, the ideal space for a company that doesn’t take itself too seriously.
The main open plan office provides a real sense of community, and is equipped with generously sized desks and comfy ergonomic chairs that are tailor-made for employees who need to spend most of the day at the computer.

Booking.com – Moscow (https://officesnapshots.com/2016/07/22/booking-com-offices-moscow/)
Travel experts Booking.com have done an amazing job with their new base in Russia – managing to create an open, collaborative workspace space that feels both informal and professional at the same time.
Layout wise, they’ve managed to balance open plan with some gentle separation by using partial walls and full-length glass. Inside each space, the designs are inspired by different locations from around the world – a clear nod to the nature of the brand.
There’s even a dedicated breakout and kitchen space, cleverly designed to look like a high-end hotel bar.
Line Offices – Taipei (https://officesnapshots.com/2016/06/27/line-offices-taipei/)
And now for something completely different.
Mobile app developer Line’s new Taipei offices a step away from the conventional and pushes the boundaries – there’s a 20ft tall plush bear character in the centre of the space for a start!
It’s designed to be a creative space where people are encouraged to innovate and collaborate, and whilst the quirky styling might not be to everyone’s taste, it really suits the brand.
They’ve also managed to bring a sense of place into the space, integrating local cultural details like the Taiwan Sugar Corporation railway carriage and aboriginal stone houses into the design.
